The Gertie Hoffman Scholarship for Outstanding Students in Agricultural Environmental Sciences 2020

The Gertie Hoffman fund, run by the Hebrew University and the Keren Kayemeth LeIsrael–Jewish National Fund (KKL-JNF), will be giving scholarships for outstanding students starting their studies (undergraduate and Master's) in the 2020 academic year at the Robert H. Smith Faculty of Agriculture, Food and Environment.

The fund will be giving 4 tuition scholarships to outstanding students who will be learning their first undergraduate year in 2020, 6,000 NIS per scholarship.
The undergraduate scholarship is a one-time scholarship that will not be extended.
The fund will be giving 6 scholarships for outstanding master's students in the field of agricultural environmental sciences that will be beginning their master's studies in 2020. The scholarship will be 2,500 NIS per month (30,000 NIS for the year) and a complimentary scholarship of 3,500 NIS will be given by the IP, altogether 6,000 NIS per month. This scholarship will be given for 24 months during the master's studies.
The selection and decision process will be held with the KKL-JNF. The selection will be based, among other things, on academic excellence, evaluation of the research plan of the candidates and the motivation for learning or research, receiving a scholarship from another source. There will be a preference to student who are residence of the Negev and the Galil or students whose practical academic work are in the Galil or Negev areas.

The scholarships will be given in a central ceremony held by the KKL-JNF, an invitation will be sent to the students who will be awarded the scholarships. Participation in the ceremony is a condition for receiving the scholarship.

You must add to your application the following documents: an acceptance letter to the university, CV, a personal letter explaining the compatibility to the subject of the scholarship and motivation for research, an official grade certificate, the attached letter of agreement (appendix A), a letter of agreement by the IP (for candidates to the master's scholarships), the topic and summary of the research and academic publications.

  • This scholarship will not be given to students receiving other KKL-JNF scholarships from other sources, such as the Appelby Scholarship.
  • The KKL-JNF addendum to this call is not available in English at this time.
