Doctor of Veterinary Medicine

 

 

Animals have always been an important part of human life, in both the modern and traditional world. The staff of the The Koret School of Veterinary Medicine are committed to improving the lives, health and well-being of animals and their people. This includes caring for pets and livestock, supervising the quality and safety of animal food supplies and protecting public health from diseases transmitted from animals to humans.doctor-of-veterinaty-medicine1.jpg

The goals of the Koret School of Veterinary Medicine are to educate and train highly qualified veterinary students, with special emphasis on the specific needs of Israel, so that they will be able to meet the present and future challenges of the veterinary profession. The Koret School also offers post-graduate and continuing education programs for local and new immigrant veterinarians. In addition, research in basic sciences and clinical veterinary medicine is conducted. 

Graduates of the Koret School of Veterinary Medicine go on to practice veterinary medicine and care for pet animals, livestock, horses and poultry. Other occupations open to Koret School graduates include veterinary research, the provision of regulatory veterinary services, food and hygiene inspection and regulation in municipalities and food production, veterinary services for the police and army, promotion of animal welfare, and veterinary care and management of wildlife.

The Veterinary Teaching Hospital

doctor-of-veterinaty-medicine2.jpgof the Koret School of Veterinary Medicine is the heart of the Veterinary School and the site at which the students receive their clinical training.

The hospital receives patients directly from the public and referral cases from veterinarians.

An emergency service operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Of the total number of >12,000 cases received each year, more than 75% are referral cases from veterinarians around the country.

This hospital is unique in that it is the only hospital in Israel with modern facilities and equipment staffed by more than 45 veterinarians and a comprehensive range of internationally and nationally recognized specialists. The hospital has >23 internationally recognized specialists.
