The Advisory Committee

The Advisory Committee is a central component of the doctorate course in the Hebrew University. The roles of the committee are:

1. To accompany, advise, critique and approve the research.

2. To examine the student's readiness to carry out the research. The committee is a partner in guiding the research and it is recommended to use it throughout the research. Therefore, it is highly recommended that the student will meet with the committee also without the supervisor.

The process assumes membership of a plenum member in the Faculty PhD committee for regulation purpose carried out by the Authority for Research Students (in areas where another plenum member treats the Faculty student, the committee will inform a plenary member in the relevant discussion).

The advisory committee will include the supervisor(s) and two other leading researchers in the field of research, at least one of whom with experience in supervision and at least one external researcher. The main supervisor will serve as the chair of the committee.
