Eligibility for a Master's Degree
To be eligible for degree, students must satisfy the following conditions:
- All academic requirements (such as number of credits, compliance with the list of courses required by the program, submitting an approved study/work plan, a passing grade in all courses, a final weighted average of at least 70) were fulfilled according to regulations.
- The final project report received final approval (after corrections) and was submitted to the secretariat.
- Both final project report and final project exam received a minimum grade of 60.
- All debts to the university (tuition, books etc.) were resolved.
- Student submitted the appropriate form to the secretariat in order to check their eligibility within 4 years of the commencement of their studies. The degree eligibility date is the date on which the secretariat has received all the student's grades and approved final project report. The record of eligibility will not specify the grade of the final project report, but only the grade of the final project exam (except for teaching program 717).
Final Grade
Students should notify the secretariat (of the teaching program, faculty or school) of the completion of their studies. After receiving the notification the secretariat will check the eligibility for the degree and calculate the final grade for the degree. Students will no longer be able to change the final grade or the diploma after receiving their record of eligibility. Students who wish to improve an individual grade must receive the permission of the faculty and will receive a separate confirmation for that individual grade.
The final grade for the master's degree (except for teaching programs 717 and 723) is based on the course grade average, the final project report, and the final project exam. The relative weight of each of these components is at the discretion of the faculty.
The final grade of students who have completed all their requirements is comprised of the following 3 grades as follows (except for teaching programs 717 and 723):
Final project report grade 15% of the final grade
Final project oral exam grade 15% of the final grade
Weighted course grade average 70% of the final grade
In teaching program 717, the final grade is a weighted average of the courses and seminar.
In teaching program 723, the theoretical seminar accounts for 30% of the final grade, and the weighted course grade average accounts for 70% of the final grade.
Honors
Students' level of distinction is determined according to their relative ranking among the faculty graduates in their particular class (as long as the grade is no lower than the threshold set for each honor), as specified below:
Minimum grade | Percentage | Level of distinction
Master's | Bachelor's | Master's | Bachelor's
92 | 90 | top 3% | top 2% | summa cum laude |
85 | 85 | next 22% | next 18% | magna cum laude |
Graduation Ceremony
Students receive their graduation diplomas at a ceremony held once a year. Requests to check eligibility are accepted up to 6 weeks before the ceremony. Any requests submitted after this date will be handled after the ceremony.
Eligible students will receive personal notice of the ceremony date (students who have not received any notice by 30.4 should contact the secretariat at 08-9489189). The ceremony is held each year around the end of the academic year. Eligible students receive their diplomas on the year following their completion of studies. In the ceremony, students receive their diploma and record of studies.
